About The APICS Salary Survey and This Calculator

This salary calculator is based on a survey conducted and reported for APICS in 2017 by Readex Research, an independent research company. The functionality of this website was also developed by Readex.

Sample Composition and Data Collection

The potential respondent list included the following populations:

The survey was designed jointly by APICS and Readex. Placement of the survey on a web page, distribution of the electronic survey invitations, and tabulation of the results were handled by Readex.

Data was collected via online survey from October 9 to 23, 2017. The survey was closed for tabulation with 3,297 total responses—3,104 from email invitations and 193 via website/social media postings.

To best represent the audience of interest, results were filtered to include only those who indicated they were employed in the supply chain field as of July 1, 2017, and worked in the United States a majority of the time. They also had to have indicated that they work 35 or more hours in a typical week in their primary position in the supply chain field. Additionally, respondents who indicated their title/level as consultant, faculty, professor, instructor, lecturer, dean, academic, student, or intern were excluded from the results. These criteria resulted in 2,659 usable responses for tabulation.

Complete details may be found in the full report.

About This Calculator

This salary calculator includes data from all 2,641 respondents employed full time (35+ hrs/week) in the supply chain field as of July 1, 2017, and worked in the US a majority of the time who provided compensation information.

By checking off boxes on the salary calculator page, the user can build a nearly infinite number of different queries on this data — learning typical compensation for those with a director level position and with industry tenure of at least 20 years who supervise others at an organization with fewer than 100 employees and hold a graduate degree and the CPIM certification, for instance. Ranges can be built up (e.g., those with 20+ OR 10-19 years of industry experience) by checking more than one box for a given variable. Clicking NO FILTER removes all filters for that variable.

The results show three percentiles (25th, 50th, and 75th) of data for both the user's selection situation and for all reported survey respondents (for comparison).

Note that results are not displayed if fewer than 5 cases meet the selection criteria — when this happens, revise your selections by checking more boxes or NO FILTER for variables of interest.
